Since spring 2023, there has been a significant increase in acts of transnational repression targeting Sikhs, including assassinations, assassination attempts, threats of harm, and the use of firearms to intimidate. Alongside this, a troubling pattern persists of Sikhs, both young and old, facing physical assaults within their communities due to ignorance or prejudice. Regardless of how a person identifies, no one has the right to attack another without just cause, such as self-defense. When someone faces unjust assault, we recognize that, as creations of the Divine, everyone has the inherent right to protect their life.
