Who We Are

The Sikh Civil Defense Association (SCDA) is a faith-based nonprofit based out of Fort Worth, Texas. We are dedicated to building intentional community spaces that support and protect the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of Sikh congregants and our neighbors.

Across the greater Fort Worth area, our work ranges from community safety initiatives to regenerative homesteading and community gardening. Guided by the Sikh principle of Sarbat da Bhala (“the welfare of all”) and inspired by the legacy of the Kharku Singhs and Singhnia (“Sikh defenders of the faith”), we provide virtual and in-person support that helps foster resilient, intentional communities across North America.

Our Mission

The Sikh community in the United States and Canada, as a visible religious minority, often faces challenges rooted in religious illiteracy, intolerance, and threats to the safety of individuals and sacred spaces. Our mission is to help everyday Sikhs build resilient, regenerative communities grounded in the Khalsa tradition and guided by the principle of Sarbat da Bhala (“the welfare of all”), creating environments where faith, service, and collective well-being can flourish together.

The Outpost

The Outpost is a Khalsa-centric communal space designed to highlight the traditional spiritual, martial, and natural aspects of Khalsa living. Here, members and guests can engage in outdoor activities, build self-reliance, and experience the five virtues of the Sikh tradition in action. More about visitor code of conduct can be read here.

Our Partners

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of our valued collaborators for their distinct contributions in helping us build a safer, stronger Sikh community.
